| At 4:53 a.m. this morning, the St. James Fire Department was dispatched for a reported brush fire in the fields of BB & GG Farmstand. Upon arrival, Assistant Chief Danny Keegan found a fully involved greenhouse, a tractor trailer, and multiple chicken coops.
Due to the scope of the incident, mutual aid was requested from the Nesconset Fire Department and the Nissequogue Fire Department, who responded directly to the scene. The Stony Brook Fire Department stood by at Station 2 to provide coverage in the event of a second alarm.
Thanks to the combined efforts of all departments, the fire was successfully handled. All St. James units returned to their respective stations by 7:50 a.m.
Equipment cleanup and restoration followed, with the final apparatus back in service at 9:30 a.m. |
